Neiman Marcus—"The Book"

Overview

Client approached agency to streamline the production process for "the Book," their publication which is distributed nationally eight to nine times a year. They lacked the internal capabilities with current resources to manage the ongoing design and layout of the publication. The internal creative team, copywriting/editing team, and print production teams were at a standoff and were incapable of communicating effectively and efficiently.

Solution

Propel researched, developed and implemented strategic work processes to ensure timely publishing. Propel coordinated and managed daily design production and all approvals with a team of 20-30 different buyers, creatives, copywriter, copy editors and established timely deliverables to print buyers to meet stringent publishing requirements.

Impact

The results minimized costly upcharges for late disk releases by 30%. Propel’s error-proof files minimized costly changes at second and third bluelines by 43% over previous teams’ attempts. Bottom line performance: 100% on-time delivery with a 99.9% accuracy, resulting in substantial cost savings. The resulting efficiencies freed up internal creative resources to focus on the visual and written content, translating to an award-winning publication that increased sales.

VHA, Inc.

Overview

VHA had initiated a publication which lacked a consistent brand. Processes were ill-defined which further cramped their efforts to meet monthly time lines. This publication was intended to bring timely health care operation information to decision makers and serve as a valuable communications tool to VHA members.

Solution

Propel created new design formats, utilizing publication software tools to streamline and maximize production time lines, devised efficient client/agency work processes, implemented rigid schedules and management processes, and organized out-of-state print and distribution contacts to maximize cost savings.

Advertising revenue is up by 22% which enables client to cover print production costs—making this flagship publication a smart, efficient communications vehicle reaching over 18,000 readers each month. Carter BloodCare—"About Life"

Overview

With a limited budget, a new face was needed forCarter BloodCare’s quarterly publication,"About Life."

Solution

Propel Group overhauled the personality of this publication with true-life stories and photographs of real people. The challenge was to use no professional photographers but rather to use what was at hand and work with it effectively.

Impact

Carter BloodCare continues to grow, adding more donor facilities each year, and the "About Life" publication circulation is nearing 40,000. In 2006, Propel Group won a Platinum MarCom Creative Award for the publication.

Cook Children’s—Promise

Overview

Propel completes several publications for various clients. This particular publication is done with heart and sole and compassion as it represents one the finest children’s critical care facilities in this region.

Solution

Propel has produced this publication for nearly 13 years. We have cradled small children in our arms that are no longer with us today. We have also visited with patients who have grown up to live healthy, productive lives. This publication which touches many hearts was designed to have ample white space and clarity of design so not to clutter the stories and the impact they carry.
